The porter is responsible for performing general and detail cleaning, shuttling, fueling, topping off fluids, preventative maintenance of vehicles and facilities in accordance with the Maintenance Plan and other Authority procedures.

Location: 415 N. Zarfoss Dr. York PA

Pay: $23.50/hour *WEEKLY* pay checks.

Requirements:

  • Possession of Valid DL and Willingness to get CDL B with Passenger Endorsement, Air Brake Restriction Lifted with our paid training. (Will Train! Training paid for by organization!)
  • Requires flexible availability, as shift is assigned based on seniority bid system.

Schedule: This full time position will likely get one of following shifts listed below (not a shift choice and is subject to change based on bid system). Position is subject to seniority bid system and training schedule may differ, so MUST have open availability for ANY shift during the dept operating hours which are: Sunday 6 AM - Saturday 12:30 AM and Saturday 6 AM - Saturday 11:59 PM.

Expect new hire to get either of the following shifts (NOT A CHOICE, it is ASSIGNED by seniority) so MUST have ability to work either AND any of our operating hours listed above.

Sun 12 noon - 8:30 pm & Mon - Thurs 4 PM - 12:30 AM (just after midnight)

Sat 3:30 PM - 12 midnight & Tues - Fri 4 PM - 12:30 AM (just after midnight)

Role in the organization:

The position is critical in assisting rabbittransit in meeting our mission of mobility. The impact of public transportation runs much deeper than a trip from point A to point B. Our culture of innovation and stewardship champions that mission. This position is responsible for performing general servicing of vehicles and facilities, preventative maintenance, general and detail cleaning, shuttling, and fueling vehicles in accordance with the Maintenance Plan and other Authority procedures.

Key/Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager. This position receives training, performs duties under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and works within general guidelines. 

Some of the Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:

  • Prefer High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months driving experience and previous labor experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to work variable shifts and overtime as required.
  • Ability to follow and communicate both verbally and written in English. Ability to read and interpret service and instruction manuals.
  • Ability to adhere to DOT and FTA regulations concerning operation of CPTA vehicles, adhere to local traffic regulations, and adherence to safety sensitive position.
  • Ability to use and proficiently operate a computerized software program.
  • Ability to complete record-keeping and written reports. 
  • Knowledge of safe practices and the ability to safely operate fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Must meet hiring qualifications including but not limited to, minimum of 18 years of age with additional criteria, acceptable driving record and background verification in accordance with CPTA standards. 

Certificates and Licenses Required: 

  • Must possess valid Commercial Driver's License class "B" operator's license with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted that is not under suspension or revocation. (Will train! Must obtain within first year of employment if does not have.)
  • Must possess a valid DOT medical card. (Will send for such if given a contingent job offer.)
  • This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing.
