Wren and Bluebird Boutique Awarded $1,500 BLOOM Grant for Woman-Owned Small Businesses

Hanover, PA – Main Street Hanover is proud to announce that downtown Hanover’s own Wren and Bluebird Boutique, owned by Jen Thomason, has been selected as a recipient of a $1,500 BLOOM Grant through the 2025 Woman-owned Small Business BLOOM Grant Program. This competitive micro-grant program supports women-owned small businesses across York County that are working to enhance productivity, expand services, and reach the next level of growth.
The BLOOM Grant program awards micro-grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 for tangible business improvements such as interior or exterior renovations, equipment upgrades, lighting and safety enhancements, marketing and advertising expenses, and other material improvements that contribute to business growth and community impact. Grants cannot be used for operating expenses, payroll, or debt payments.
Wren and Bluebird Boutique, located at 110 Broadway, has quickly become a beloved part of the Hanover downtown community. Thomason opened the boutique in the winter of 2024 as a deeply personal passion project. After more than 20 years of teaching second grade, she faced the heartbreaking loss of a student, Kinleigh, who passed away from a brain tumor. The grief and emotional toll eventually led Thomason to step away from teaching for her mental health.
As she sought healing and purpose, the idea for Wren and Bluebird was born—a boutique rooted in creativity, compassion, and community. The shop offers women’s clothing and accessories, but has also grown into a space of connection through clothing and food drives, activity nights for teachers and community members, and a warm, welcoming environment for all women. Inside the boutique, Thomason created a kids craft corner dedicated to Kinleigh, a joyful space always ready to welcome young visitors who want to color, create, and embrace their inner child.
The BLOOM Grant funds will support the launch of Wren and Bluebird’s new e-commerce store, allowing Thomason to expand her reach, offer online shopping to customers near and far, and continue growing the boutique’s impact in the community.
“It has been an absolute honor working with Jen from day one,” said Moriah Tyler, Executive Director of Main Street Hanover“I never would have thought that an email sent to our Main Street account asking about rental locations downtown would blossom into such an incredible friendship. But that is what Main Street is all about—connection. I have learned so much about Jen and her passions, and I learn something new each and every day. She is a blessing to have in our downtown landscape.”
Main Street Hanover congratulates Wren and Bluebird Boutique on this well-deserved award and looks forward to continuing to support Thomason’s vision, growth, and inspiring work within the community.
