UPMC and OIP Open New Orthopaedic Clinic in York County to Meet Community Need
YORK, Pa. – (April 2, 2026) In response to York County’s growing population and the fact that one in two Americans will need care for an orthopaedic condition in their lifetime, UPMC and Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania (OIP) have opened a new clinic in York to meet community needs.
The new OIP clinic, located 520 Greenbriar Road, York, will welcome patients on April 6 and will be staffed by sixteen physicians and ten advanced practice providers between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Walk-in appointments for urgent orthopaedic injuries will be available. Patients seen at this location who need surgical procedures will be scheduled at UPMC Memorial.
“For the first time, residents of York have close-to-home access to our advanced orthopaedic services,” said Brett Himmelwright, D.O., general orthopedist and medical director of OIP in York County. “This new clinic and our partnership with UPMC Memorial give patients more choice in who provides their orthopaedic care.”
Earlier this year, UPMC and OIP partnered to deliver comprehensive musculoskeletal services together, ensuring patients across Central Pa. are receiving world-class care when and where they need it most.
“By bringing together the strengths of OIP and UPMC, we’re able to provide patients with the care they need to thrive after debilitating orthopaedic injuries,” said Karen Wastler, president, UPMC Memorial. “Our hospital provides OIP surgeons and patients with access to the latest surgical technology, dedicated surgical services and support staff, and spacious, modern facilities for recovery.”
Orthopaedic specialists at UPMC and OIP offer comprehensive services for the full musculoskeletal system including conditions of the foot, ankle, knee, spine, hand, elbow, and shoulder. They see patients with traumatic injuries, arthritis joint pain, bone fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, conditions like clubfoot and scoliosis, and soft tissue injuries. Sports medicine providers treat injuries resulting from sports and exercise, like bone, joint and muscle injuries, in after-hours Walk-in Orthopaedic Injury Clinics from UPMC and OIP across the region.
