Traffic and Parking Restrictions for 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Display

Hanover, Pa. – The Hanover Borough Police Department Chief of Police has announced traffic and parking restrictions for the July 4th Celebration downtown on July 4, 2026, as well as for the fireworks display that evening off Willson Avenue.

 

Traffic and parking restrictions for the 4th of July Celebration downtown include:

 

  • Thursday, July 2 beginning at 7AM
  • Parking prohibited in municipal lot #5 off North Railroad Street
  • Saturday, July 4 beginning at 7AM
  • Parking prohibited on North Railroad Street from Broadway to West Chestnut Street
  • Traffic closed on North Railroad Street from Broadway to West Chestnut Street
  • Traffic closed on Bank Lane from Carlisle Street to North Railroad Street and from North Railroad Street to Allewalt Alley
  • Saturday, July 4 from 11AM – 8PM
  • Traffic reduced to one lane on East Chestnut Street between Broadway and North Railroad Street

 

Parking and traffic restrictions for the fireworks display include:

 

  • Saturday, July 4 beginning at 9:15PM
  • Wilson Avenue closed between Eisenhower Drive and the Target entrance until the conclusion of the fireworks display.
  • Stopping or parking vehicles along Eisenhower Drive is prohibited during the display.
  • Following the display, all vehicles exiting the Lowes parking lot onto Wilson Avenue must turn left onto Wilson Avenue and then left onto Eisenhower Drive to travel generally east.

 

Parking in all municipal lots and on-street metered spaces is free for the 4th of July holiday. Limited ADA parking will be available in the northeast quadrant of the Square throughout the downtown event.

 

Attendees to the downtown event should note that coolers and outside food, with the exception of bottled water, will not be permitted inside the event area. Please leave pets at home. Additionally, fireworks, sparklers, or incendiaries will not be permitted at the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring portable seating if they plan to sit and enjoy the entertainment, but canopies are not allowed. An emergency services station will be located off Bank Lane toward Allewalt Avenue.
