Barley Snyder Welcomes Three Summer Associates
Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce it has hired three law students to participate in its 2025 Summer Associate Program. The eight-week immersive program is designed to give aspiring attorneys practical, hands-on legal training in a dynamic law firm environment.
Participating in the program are:
- Michael D. James is a second-year law student at Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law. The Dousman, Wisconsin native holds a Master of Legal Studies from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law and earned his undergraduate degree from Western Governors University.
- Nathan J. Rush is a second-year law student at Washington and Lee University School of Law. The Wheeling, West Virginia native received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Jefferson College.
- Michael P. Votano is a second-year law student at Penn State Dickinson Law. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania native received his undergraduate degree from Penn State University.
“We’re thrilled to welcome this year’s summer associates,” said partner Alexander Puskar, chair of the firm’s Summer Associate Program and former Barley Snyder summer associate. “Our program is built to provide meaningful, firsthand legal experience, and we’re confident these students will make valuable contributions while gaining deep insight into the profession.”
During the program, the summer associates will work directly on active legal matters, rotate through the firm’s offices, and receive assignments across eight practice areas, 10 industry groups and five service teams. In addition to legal work, summer associates will take part in social and networking events designed to foster professional relationships with experienced attorneys throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland.
“Our 2025 summer associates are an impressive group,” said Jennifer Craighead Carey. “We’re excited to support their professional development and give them an inside look at the exceptional legal service Barley Snyder is known for.”
Resumes for summer associates must be received no later than July 1 for consideration for the following summer.
