Local Businesses Join Forces in Beloved Annual Event Celebrating “Shop Local”

HANOVER, PA — Where’s Waldo? In Hanover, of course! Find Waldo Local has become a beloved summertime event in communities nationwide. This year, Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association are again teaming up with 325 independent bookstores nationwide, including Little Fox Coffee & Books on Broadway, for some hide-and-seek fun designed to encourage residents to patronize their local business. There is no charge to participate, and the hunt lasts for the entire month of July.
Families love joining the scavenger hunt to find the iconic children’s book character, with his red-and-white-striped shirt and black glasses, hidden in 25 local businesses, including Fourcorners Comics & Games, GrillRilla, The Serpent’s Key, and Dawg Gone Bees. Find Waldo Local is a wonderful way to support the Shop Local movement by increasing foot traffic to a variety of stores.
“Find Waldo Local will help Hanover by boosting local businesses and promoting community engagement through a fun, family-friendly scavenger hunt. The event encourages people to explore local shops and discover new places while searching for Waldo. I grew up devouring Where’s Waldo books and I wish this event had been when I was young,” says Kiki Page, co-owner of Little Fox Coffee & Books, “I’m honored to be able to bring it to the young readers and their families for the first time.” Kiki and her husband opened the bookstore-cafe in September of 2024 and offer community-driven events and book clubs.
To join in the fun, people can simply pick up a “Find Waldo Local in Hanover!” stamp card at any of the participating stores. With each miniature Waldo they spot, searchers get their card stamped or signed by the participating shop. Eagle-eyed hunters can also look for Waldo’s special 2025 red and white-striped magnifying glass in Little Fox Coffee & Books! Collecting store stamps or signatures at twenty or more businesses will entitle diligent seekers entry into a grand-prize drawing for Waldo books and other prizes, including gift cards from Dawg Gone Bees and The Cake Bar. All participants are welcome to attend the celebration party at Little Fox Coffee & Books on July 31st at 5pm.
We are so excited to see Little Fox Coffee & Books bringing the beloved ‘Where’s Waldo’ event to downtown Hanover! It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore our local shops, support small businesses, and create fun, lasting memories for families in our community. Events like this truly bring our downtown to life and showcase the charm and connection that make Hanover so special.” — Moriah Tyler, Executive Director, Main Street Hanover
