HANOVER AREA YMCA ANNOUNCES SALE OF GETTYSBURG CHILDCARE CENTER

New ownership to take over programming effective July 1, 2025
(GETTYSBURG, PENN) Today, the Hanover Area YMCA announced they will sell the Gettysburg Childcare Center to Clark Agapakis of Little Life Enrichment Center. The transition will take place on June 30, 2025, with Mr. Agapakis taking ownership July 1, 2025. All current participants and staff will be transitioned under the new ownership.
“It has been our honor and privilege to play a role in the care of children from throughout the Gettysburg community over the last 45 years, helping them grow, learn and thrive from an early age,” said Cami Bisch, Chief Executive Officer, Hanover Area YMCA. “After much reflection and consideration, we have made the decision to sell the childcare center to new ownership.”
Hanover Area YMCA acquired the Gettysburg Childcare Center as part of its absorption of the former YWCA of Gettysburg & Adams County in December of 2024.
“When acquiring the YWCA of Gettysburg & Adams County and its associated debt, we knew difficult financial decisions would need to be made, some sooner than others. Ultimately, selling the childcare center at 50 Expedition Trail was the best option to allow us to continue serving the Gettysburg community while ensuring financial sustainability. To that end, the sale will provide the funding we need to redevelop the childcare facilities and programs at our 909 Fairfield Rd. location, which are expected to be completed and open by January 2026,” Bisch said.
The new owner of the 50 Expedition Trail location is Clark Agapakis of Little Life Enrichment Center. Little Life Enrichment Center opened its doors more than 28 years ago and is currently one of only four Adams County childcare facilities to earn the highest rating of four stars by the state’s Keystone STARS program.
“I am very excited to bring to Gettysburg the same passion and commitment to quality that we have in the New Oxford service area for all these years, and I see exciting times ahead”, Clark said.
“Clark and his team bring with them a wealth of experience in early childhood education and share our values of safety, learning, and community. Based on their commitment to providing the same level of excellent care, we are confident that the children and families currently enrolled in our program, along with future participants, are in great hands,” Bisch said.
The Hanover Area Y has communicated the sale to all program families and staff and has committed to work closely with the new owner to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for everyone involved. All current program families and staff will be welcomed under the new ownership.
