Barley Snyder Partner Joseph Falcon Appointed to New Roles with American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law

Malvern, Pa. - Barley Snyder is pleased to announce Joseph R. Falcon, III, partner and intellectual property attorney, has been appointed to the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) Section Council. He will serve a four-year term in this new role beginning September 1, 2025. Falcon has also been appointed to serve as a member of the Section’s Patent Prosecution Boot Camp Task Force. In addition, he will continue his roles as Vice Chair of the USPTO Ex Parte Patent Practice and Policy Committee, Liaison to the ABA-IPL Section of Litigation and a Member of the section’s Amicus Brief Committee for the 2025-2026 bar year.

For more than a century, the American Bar Association has been a cornerstone of the legal profession nationwide. With a strong focus on legal education, policy development and professional networking, the ABA’s Intellectual Property Law Section and its more than 12,000 members play a vital role in shaping IP laws both in the United States and internationally. As a member of the IPL Section Council, Falcon will help guide the Section’s strategic direction and contribute to leadership decisions affecting its programs. In his new role as a member of the Patent Prosecution Boot Camp Task Force, he will assist in developing a two-day patent prosecution bootcamp for ABA-IPL members.

Falcon will again serve as Liaison to the ABA-IPL Section of Litigation, helping to facilitate the development of collegial relationships with other ABA entities as well as outside IP related organizations. He will continue his involvement as a member of the Section’s Amicus Curiae Brief Committee where he assists in carefully reviewing and evaluating all amicus curiae briefs drafted for submission in the name of the Association. Lastly, he will continue to serve as Vice Chair of the USPTO Ex Parte Patent Practice and Policy Committee, helping to lead the committee’s efforts.

“I’m honored to step into new roles with the ABA's Intellectual Property Law Section Council,” said Falcon. “I’m also excited to continue serving in my current positions and to contribute to the ongoing success of the ABA-IPL. I look forward to collaborating with talented professionals across the industry as we lead a strong and impactful 2025–26 bar year.”

Falcon is a registered U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent attorney with deep knowledge in patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright law. As a member of Barley Snyder’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, he focuses his practice on all aspects of patent and trademark law, including prosecution, licensing, litigation, validity and infringement studies, and IP-related business counseling. In addition to his ABA-IPL roles, Falcon serves as committee member of the Newtown Township Trails and Greenways.
