Curbside Garden Waste & Leaf Collection in Borough of Hanover
HANOVER, PA — The Borough’s annual curbside garden waste and brush pick-up will take place on October 12 – 16, 2026.
For brush and yard waste collection, tree limbs should be bundled in sections no longer than three feet and must not contain wire. Garden waste may be bagged or placed at the curb, but dirt should not be included. Leaves and brush must be placed in separate piles. Grass, rocks, and stones are not accepted. Entire trees and oversized brush piles cannot be placed out for regular brush collection. Full trees and oversized brush piles should be taken to Old Castle APG, located at 501 Old Hanover Road, Spring Grove, or residents may contact Public Works to schedule a special pick-up. Fees may apply for special pick-ups.
In addition, leaf collection will run toward the end of October through the end of the year or until the first snow fall. Residents may dispose of leaves either by placing them in bags or by raking them into loose piles at the curb for collection.
Most importantly, to ensure safe and efficient service, do not include sticks, twigs, branches, or other debris with your leaves since the leaf vacuum equipment is designed specifically for leaves only and cannot properly process woody materials.
Please note that there is no fixed leaf collection route or schedule. Public Works crews will rotate through all neighborhoods as time, leaf volume, and weather conditions permit. Crews will make repeated passes throughout the season.
In addition to curbside collection, leaves and garden debris may also be dropped off at the Borough recycling yard, located at 139 North Street, during the following hours:
- Weekdays: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Entrance closes at 2:50 PM)
- Saturdays: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Entrance closes at 11:50 AM)
