Brown Plus Welcomes Patrick Rogers as Tax Principal and Research & Development Director

Leading accounting and advisory firm, Brown Plus, is thrilled to announce that it has welcomed Patrick Rogers, EA, MST, as Tax Principal and Research & Development (R&D) Director. In this role, Pat will lead Brown Plus’ R&D Tax Credit Practice, in alignment with the Firm’s increased focus on expanding its advisory services to meet continuously evolving client needs.

The R&D Tax Credit is an incentive for organizations to pioneer the innovation that allows our society to flourish. It is designed to reward taxpayers that create or update existing products, processes, techniques, formulas or software. The credit provides a tax break for some of the taxpayer’s Qualified Research Expenses (QREs), including wages, supplies, contract research expenses and payments made to qualified research organizations.

As R&D Director, Pat will lead and expand upon Brown Plus’ R&D Tax Credit Practice, helping organizations accurately identify eligible R&D activities, allocate expenses and ensure the credit is properly claimed for current and prior tax years. While organizations of any size and within any industry may qualify for the credit, several of the industries that Brown Plus works with are exceptionally well-positioned to be eligible, including architecture and engineering; construction; craft beverage; healthcare; insurance; manufacturing/distribution; and technology.

"I am thrilled to join Brown Plus as a Tax Principal and R&D Director," said Pat. "The Firm and I share a deep commitment to helping clients achieve exceptional results. I’m excited to collaborate with Brown Plus clients to optimize their R&D Tax Credit strategies and guide them through every stage of the R&D process."

Pat brings a wealth of experience to Brown Plus, with over 17 years served in public accounting. He specializes in providing R&D Tax Credit consulting, tax and project management services. Prior to joining Brown Plus, Pat was a leading member of a national R&D Tax Credit practice in an accounting and advisory firm and worked at a ‘Big Four’ accounting firm, a Philadelphia-based business advisory and tax consulting firm, and a major transportation and freight company.

“We are very excited to welcome Pat to the Brown Plus team,” said Ken Wolfe, CPA, CGMA, President and Managing Principal. “Pat has spent a significant length of his career specializing in the R&D Tax Credit and is uniquely qualified to advise our clients through the full R&D process. We are thrilled to have him leading the charge of expanding our R&D consulting services to continue meeting the evolving needs of our clients.”

Pat is highly active with numerous professional associations within the accounting community, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA); the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA); and the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP).

Pat received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a focus in Accounting, from Widener University. He also earned his Master of Science in Taxation (MST) from William Howard Taft University and his Lean Six Sigma certification from Villanova University. The Lean Six Sigma certification recognizes individuals who have demonstrated valuable knowledge in process optimization methodologies, enhanced problem-solving abilities and advanced decision-making skills.
