Barley Snyder Partner Paul Mattaini Named “Lawyer of the Year” in Banking and Finance Law
Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder partner Paul G. Mattaini has been named a “Lawyer of the Year” by The Best Lawyers in America® in its 32nd edition, earning the top distinction for Banking and Finance Law in the Harrisburg metro area.
The “Lawyer of the Year” honor is highly selective, bestowed upon only one attorney per practice area in each geographic region, based entirely on peer review feedback. This marks the third time Mattaini has received the “Lawyer of the Year” distinction recently, having previously been recognized for Mergers and Acquisitions Law in its 2025 edition and for Banking and Finance Law in its 2020 edition.
“Barley Snyder’s strong banking practice was well established before I joined the firm, and we are proud to continue that history,” said Mattaini. “Thus, while this individual recognition is appreciated and humbling, the work in this area is always a team effort. This recognition underscores the depth and breadth of our firm’s banking practice, now led by my partner, Kim Decker”
Mattaini brings more than three decades of experience to the firm, with a deep background in advising financial institutions and corporate clients on complex financing transactions, regulatory matters and corporate governance. He has practiced at Barley Snyder for 31 years and was previously a partner at Devine, Millimet & Branch in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Over the years, Mattaini has consistently been recognized by Best Lawyers in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Banking and Finance Law, Corporate Law, and Securities/Capital Markets Law. He has earned an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected to Pennsylvania Super Lawyers in the M&A category. In 2023, he received the Champion for Women Award from the Pennsylvania Bankers Association in recognition of his support for advancing women in the banking industry.
Barley Snyder continues to build on its strong reputation as a trusted legal partner for the financial services sector. The firm’s Banking Industry Group advises financial institutions on operational, regulatory and transactional matters. The group’s work emphasizes regulatory compliance, risk management and practical solutions tailored to the financial goals of institutional clients across Pennsylvania and the broader Mid-Atlantic region.
