Barley Snyder Partner Lauralee Baker Named “Lawyer of the Year” in Medical Malpractice – Defendants
Lancaster, Pa. - Barley Snyder partner Lauralee B. Baker has been named a “Lawyer of the Year” by The Best Lawyers in America® in its 32nd edition. Baker received the top distinction in Medical Malpractice – Defendants for the Harrisburg metropolitan area.
The prestigious “Lawyer of the Year” honor is awarded to only one attorney per region and practice area, based on outstanding peer review ratings for professional excellence and integrity. Baker has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers for more than a decade across several practice areas, including Health Care Litigation, Health Care Law, and Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants. In 2023, she also earned the “Lawyer of the Year” title for her work in Health Care Law.
“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by my peers in an area of law that demands both precision and compassion,” said Baker. “Health care providers face immense legal and regulatory challenges, and I’m committed to helping them navigate those complexities so they can stay focused on delivering care. Their work is essential to the health and well-being of our communities, and I’m proud to support them in that mission.”
Baker is a partner in Barley Snyder’s Litigation Practice Group and serves as chair of the firm’s Health Care Industry Group. With more than 35 years of experience, she is widely respected for her vigorous defense of health care providers – including hospitals, physicians and other professionals – in complex medical malpractice litigation and regulatory matters.
Beyond her litigation practice, Baker advises health care clients on compliance, risk management and regulatory strategy, helping organizations navigate an increasingly complex legal environment while minimizing liability and enhancing operational resilience. Her background as a registered nurse, combined with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, gives her a unique perspective in health care law and enhances her ability to effectively represent medical professionals.
Baker’s commitment to community engagement is reflected in her role on the Board of Directors of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, where she supports the enrichment of the local arts scene.
