America250 | HANOVER Recognizes Sponsors and Participant Organizations

Hanover, Pa. – America250 | HANOVER, a collaborative initiative of Hanover area municipalities and community partners commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, gratefully acknowledges the many sponsors, community organizations, and individuals whose support has made this year's celebration possible.

This event, along with related activities throughout the Hanover area, reflects the four guiding pillars of America250PA—Educate, Preserve, Innovate, and Celebrate (EPIC)—honoring our nation's history while inspiring future generations. The Hanover area's participation in America250 stems from Borough of Hanover Resolution No. 1385, adopted November 2023, which recognizes the significance of the 250th anniversary and affirms the Borough's commitment to joining York County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and communities across the nation in commemorating the people, places, and events that shaped the United States.

Supporting sponsors for America250 | HANOVER include Brightspeed and Schindler as Founding Fathers Sponsors, and Schmuck Lumber Co. as a Patriot Sponsor. Fireworks Sponsors include the Hanover Eagles Aerie #1406, the Home Association of McSherrystown, Marks’ Auto Body, Trone Rental Properties, LLC, Vivian Cullison, & Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory. The Kiwanis Club of Hanover contributed to the event, and on-site support came from McManus Family Properties, Packaging Corporation of America, and Tree of Life.

Food and water sponsors include the north and south Hanover Giant stores, the north and south Hanover Weis stores, Sam’s Club, Performance Food Group and Big D’s Pitt. Texas Hot Weiner Lunch and Lamb Awards & Engraving contributed prizes and trophies, respectively, for the hot dog eating contest.

Planning and support for the celebration have been provided through a collaborative effort among the Borough of Hanover, Penn Township, and West Manheim Township, along with numerous community partners, including the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce, the Hanover Area Historical Society, the Hanover Area YMCA, Representative Kate Klunk's office, and Main Street Hanover.

Special thanks are extended to the Hanover Police Department, Hanover Area Fire & Rescue, the Borough of Hanover Department of Public Works, and the Borough of Hanover Department of Parks, Recreation and Library Services for their dedicated support and services.

The committee also recognizes the contributions of former Hanover Mayor SueAnn Whitman, current Mayor Heidi Hormel, and community members Dashiell Sears, Christina Elgersma, and Matthew Kacar for their commitment to making this celebration possible. Additional thanks go to Hanover Area Young Marines and singer Brody Rummel for their participation in the program.

In addition to the recent Fourth of July festivities, other commemorative events are on the horizon, including the installation of a one-of-a-kind Liberty Bell in Hanover later this month, details of which will be shared in the near future.
