You probably know about the harmful effects smoking has on your health, but did you know what it does to your skin? Smoking just one cigarette restricts blood flow, depriving the skin of the oxygen and nutrients it needs to thrive and heal. Some of the not-so-attractive skin-related consequences of smoking include premature aging, bags under the eyes, and permanent creases and lines around the mouth and a sallow complexion. Even worse, smoking increases the odds for developing squamous cell skin cancer and cataracts in the eyes.

“Freedom From Smoking,” the American Lung Association’s quit course, is an empowering program that helps uncover the proven ways to quit smoking and determine which method is best suited for you. Topics in this fun and no-pressure class include stress management, behavior modification, weight and exercise management and lifestyle issues as they relate to smoking. In addition, FREE nicotine patches, gum and lozenges will be provided!
Can’t make the group class? We are offering enhanced individual quit programs and FREE, no-obligation quit consultations.
Are you ready to quit? Have you been thinking about quitting but just don’t know where to get started? Hanover Hospital will offer the next “Freedom From Smoking™” series, which will begin on Monday, January 25, 2016. Classes will be held weekly from 5:30 to 7 p.m. through March 7, at the Hillside Medical Center, 250 Fame Avenue, Suite 200, Hanover, PA. The group will meet twice during week #4: February 15 and 17. Participation is FREE.
