You probably know about the harmful effects smoking has on your health, but did you know what it does to your skin? Smoking just one cigarette restricts blood flow, depriving the skin of the oxygen and nutrients it needs to thrive and heal. Some of the not-so-attractive skin-related consequences of smoking include premature aging, bags under the eyes, and permanent creases and lines around the mouth and a sallow complexion. Even worse, smoking increases the odds for developing squamous cell skin cancer and cataracts in the eyes.
