Rape Crisis Intervention Service of Carroll County's "A Culinary Experience."
On Monday, October 8, 2012, Rape Crisis Intervention Service of Carroll County (RCIS) will host its 13th annual "A Culinary Experience" fundraiser. The event will be held at Martin’s Westminster. Local restaurants, caterers, and bakeries will showcase their talents by serving everything from soup to desserts. The evening will also include silent and live auctions and music by The Eric Byrd Trio. This is an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful variety of local cuisine while supporting the needs of residents of Carroll County affected by sexual violence.
Child sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault are issues that transcend boundaries of gender, age, race and socio-economic status. RCIS is the only facility in the area trained to work with the very specific issues associated with the trauma caused by sexual crimes. The staff provides professional and compassionate intervention, 24-hour hotline services, advocacy services, therapeutic counseling, and education to promote prevention and community services.
In fiscal year 2011-2012, in Carroll County, RCIS staff and volunteers:
- accompanied 37 victims of sexual violence to the hospital
- processed 387 hotline calls
- conducted 117 face-to-face crisis interventions
- conducted 541 individual therapy sessions
To support the fundraising success of “A Culinary Experience,” a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals and businesses. Your tax deductible contribution can make a difference in the life of someone in our community negatively affected by sexual abuse, rape, or sexual assault.
