Job Fair at the York Builders Association Home and Garden Show
On Friday, February 10, during the opening day of the York Builders Association’s (YBA) 49th Annual Home and Garden Show, YBA will host a job fair at the UTZ Arena, York Expo Center, from 1:30 pm – 6:30 pm – with the help of presenting sponsor, Schmuck Lumber Co.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with local building industry related companies that are hiring, who will be pre-screening candidates on the spot as well as taking resumes and applications. It is recommended attendees bring copies of their updated resume and have a self-promoting pitch prepared.
YBA is very excited to be able to offer an opportunity for the public to meet with member businesses and partners who are looking for employees. Companies in attendance span a wide range of sectors and have a variety of jobs to offer including: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Masonry, a variety of ‘In-House’ office jobs, apprentice programs and more.
In 2017, more than 2 million new craft professionals will be needed in the industry, and with the current shortage of qualified, trained individuals, the demand will continue to grow. This job fair is also for students and young adults who are interested in finding out more about the types of careers available in the building industry.
“The construction industry is booming again with many rewarding, well-paying career opportunities available from a variety of YBA Members.” - Bob Myers, John H. Myers & Son.
We invite attendees to pre-register online at www.ybajobfair.weebly.com for a chance to win one of a variety of door prizes including tools, services, gift cards, or professional development assistance.
Also listed on the job fair website are resource links for suggestions on topics such as, ‘How to ace a job interview’ and also a list of recommendations for how to prepare for the fair itself. Job seekers may also find a listing of job postings from YBA’s members and an informational page delving into the actions, vision and mission of the York Builders Association.
YBA has partnered with their presenting sponsor, Schmuck Lumber Company, in promoting this year’s job fair.
