The York Builders Association is teaming up with ForSight Vision and Hively Landscapes to raise funds for the non-profit organization during the York Builders Association’s Home and Garden Show at the Utz Arena, York Expo Center on Friday through Sunday, January 29, 30, and 31.
Contractors will design and construct eight garden potting benches to be displayed among the exhibits at the Home and Garden Show. Visitors to the show can purchase raffle tickets and then place the tickets in a ballot box atop any one of the eight benches. The winning tickets for each bench will be drawn on Sunday, January 31.
Constructing the potting benches are:
Ted Ventre of Hively Landscapes; Barry Strine of Strine’s Heating & Air Conditioning; Leo Deller in partnership with John H. Myers, & Son; students at York County School of Technology (building two potting benches); Phil Trump of Trump Lawn & Landscaping; Paul Deller of Red Oak Remodeling; and George Deller of Jensco Construction.
The high quality benches will be attractive additions to any garden or patio area. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to ForSight Vision and their programs to serve children and adults with vision impairments, including pre-school vision testing and employment for the blind.
More than 200 exhibitors at the Home and Garden Show will have displays to beautify the exterior and interiors of homes.
A special Kids’ Zone will feature Lego building and face painting, among other activities.
The Potting Bench Raffle is being sponsored by Hively Landscapes.
The Home and Garden Show hours are: Friday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission price is $8 for adults. Children and teenagers under 18-year-old are admitted free. Admission tickets can be used to attend two days of the show.
