YWCA HANOVER AND YWCA HANOVER SAFE HOME HONOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

[HANOVER, PA, October 2025]—YWCA Hanover and Safe Home have announced a list of events they will host during the month of October to honor domestic violence survivors and bring awareness to the cause.
On Friday October 3rd the Safe Home team will host a “Stuff the Van” event at Sam’s Club, 261 Wilson Avenue in Hanover.  Team members will be collecting items for the organization’s emergency pantry.  Accepted items will include diapers, baby wipes, paper products, individually packaged snacks, microwave meals, cleaning supplies, trash bags, etc.
On Tuesday October 7th, Safe Home will partner with Gettysburg College to offer a free screening of the movie, “The Mask You Live in” -a moving documentary about masculinity, identity and the path to preventing violence before it begins. The screening will be held at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg and will be followed by a panel discussion.  Tickets can be reserved by calling (717) 337-8200.
On Thursday, October 16th Texas Roadhouse – 179 Eisenhower Drive in Hanover will host a fundraising night in which 10% of all profits will benefit Safe Home in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
On Sunday, October 19th the Gallery at the Old Post Office (141 Broadway, Hanover, PA) hosts Resilience: Domestic Violence Awareness Month Art Exhibition at 1:00 PM.  The exhibit will feature art from survivors, allies and community artists, each telling a powerful story of strength, hope and transformation.
Vanessa Berger, Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Hanover, elaborated on the importance of this month, “Domestic Violence Awareness Month is not just a time to reflect—it’s a call to action.  Every story of survival reminds us why we must keep advocating, educating, and standing up for those whose voices have been silenced. Awareness is the first step toward change, and change begins with all of us.”
