BOROUGH OF HANOVER TO PERFORM EMERGENCY HYDRANT FLUSHING

Hanover, PA – On Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5 and 6, 2025, the Borough of Hanover Water Department will be performing emergency hydrant flushing due to water discoloration from sediment disturbance. Flushing will occur throughout the west side of the water system west of Carlisle and Baltimore Streets (Route 94) beginning at 8 AM until 4 PM. The following week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 12 and 13, 2025, the Water Department will be flushing hydrants on the east side of the water system east of Carlisle and Baltimore Streets (Route 94).

While hydrants are flushing, customers may notice water discoloration and are advised not to use water for drinking or laundry until flushing is concluded. After flushing is complete, customers should let the tap run for a few minutes until the water is clear. Be aware that the strong force of water may dislodge debris on the road. Please move vehicles to avoid incidental damage. Additionally, care should be taken when driving on roads where water is actively flushing.

Fall hydrant flushing, scheduled for September 22nd through 25th, is scheduled to take place as planned.
