Sheppard Farm on Apple Hill is a family-owned operation dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional Scottish Highland cattle breed through generations of conscientious breeding and stewardship. Founded in 1976 by Peter H. Sheppard with just six cows and one bull, the farm has grown to produce more than 560 registered Highlands and currently manages a herd of approximately 180 animals. In 2008, Peter’s daughter, Heather Sheppard Lunn, expanded the operation by launching direct-to-consumer grass-fed beef sales, helping establish the farm as a trusted source for both quality beef and registered breeding stock. Now entering its third generation of Highland producers, Sheppard Farm on Apple Hill is known for its commitment to superior genetics, traditional Highland conformation, responsible animal care, and educating new owners about the lifelong commitment of raising these iconic cattle.
