Barley Snyder Partner Salvatore Anastasi Named President of American Intellectual Property Law Assn.

Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is proud to announce that partner and Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair Salvatore Anastasi has been elected President of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). The announcement was made during AIPLA’s 2025 Annual Meeting on October 31 in Washington, D.C.

Established in 1876, AIPLA is a national bar association representing individuals from law firms, corporations, companies, and institutions involved in patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, and related areas of law affecting intellectual property. With nearly 7,000 members, it is one of the largest intellectual property associations in the world, dedicated to educating and supporting IP professionals while advocating for balanced IP policy both in the United States and internationally.

A longtime member and active leader within AIPLA, Anastasi has served in numerous leadership roles, including Treasurer, Second Vice President, First Vice President, and most recently President-Elect. His election as President marks the culmination of nearly three decades of service and dedication to advancing AIPLA’s mission of fostering innovation, shaping IP policy, and supporting the professional growth of practitioners worldwide.

“It is truly an honor to serve as President of an organization that has such a profound impact on the practice and development of intellectual property law,” said Anastasi. “AIPLA plays a vital role in promoting innovation and advocating for a fair and effective intellectual property system. I look forward to collaborating with our members and leadership team to continue strengthening the association’s influence, expanding educational opportunities, and advancing the interests of the IP community worldwide.”

As President, Anastasi will oversee the association’s strategic initiatives focused on membership, education and advocacy, guide policy discussions on key intellectual property issues, and represent AIPLA before government agencies, international organizations, and professional associations. His term will focus on growing membership both in number and professionally by bringing them the most advanced and timely training. His advocacy efforts will center on advancing the association’s efforts to promote fair and balanced IP systems that encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and investment in technology.

“Sal’s election as President of AIPLA reflects his exceptional leadership and deep commitment to the advancement of intellectual property law,” said Barley Snyder managing partner Jennifer Craighead Carey. “He has demonstrated remarkable vision and dedication throughout his career, and we’re confident he will lead AIPLA with the same integrity and professionalism he brings to our firm every day.”

Anastasi is a patent attorney and the chair of Barley Snyder’s Intellectual Property Practice Group with nearly 30 years of legal experience. He advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution and intellectual property litigation. His clients range from small family businesses to large multinational corporations in a wide variety of industries.

Anastasi was recently named to The Best Lawyers in America’s 2026 edition for Patent Law, the Legal 500’s 2025 Philadelphia Elite Intellectual Property list, and the Daily Local News’ 2025 Top Lawyers of Chester County List for Intellectual Property. In addition to his involvement with AIPLA, he serves as a board member of the Brandywine Regional Airport.
